MORE HANDMADE FLOWERS ON ANOTHER BOX

Good Tuesday evening, everyone!  I hope this summer eve finds everyone in good spirits!!!

Of course, keeping to my word, I have another box project; and, as you can see, I'm still using those flowers I'd made earlier.

After I finished assembling this box, I was going to embellish it more, but decided that then it would too busy; then I thought I'd add a window to it but decided instead that I only wanted the attention focused on the flower and the bow.  So I left it as you'll see it.

This is a pretty good size gift box, about 7" x 7" give or take.  I'm calling it large because it takes up the whole 12" x 12" mat (including the sides).

I sprayed the box with Glimmer Mist in Tattered Leather and Iridescent Gold.  Of course, you may not be able to see the Iridescent Gold on the picture, but it does look glimmery and pretty.  (You can try clicking on it to enlarge it, that might help.)  I edged the rim around the box with Walnut Ink by Tsukinek.  I also added some of the Glimmer Mist to the bow; you probably can't really see that either but it's there).  I finished by adding Gold Peel-Offs to each corner of the box and the word "Celebrate".  So, it's really just a very simple "box".

I really hate the picture doesn't do it much justice, but with the glimmery effect of the Glimmer Mist on the box, it really is quite pretty!

If you like it, I have a cut.file using the George cart and a .scut file below.  I will be adding an .svg cut a bit later.  Also, because several of you have mentioned you don't have the George cart, please let me know if it would help if I did a file for you using the Plantin or Storybook carts.  I hate it when anyone is left out -- if I can help it!  I'll even look to see what other carts I may possibly be able to do some of these boxes in for you.

I will be adding these files to be available under "Cut.Files" on my sidebar as well as your being able to find them here.  I'll let you know when all the files will be available.

Well, that's about it for now. Oh, except, I'm not sure if I'll be posting tomorrow.  I may have time to visit a bit, but I have several appointments which will have me in and out.  As my hubby will be accompanying me, it may be late in the evening when we return -- he always wants to eat out after a full day!  LOL!

Let me know what you think of my project!  And, I'll be seeing you...!

A REALLY CUTE BEST GIRLFRIEND THANK YOU BOX

Good evening, my friends!  Sorry, I'm a bit late with my project to share but it has been quite a wonderful day!  Still, although I did get to visit with many of you throughout the day, I wanted to get back to you all with my project -- today!

I had mentioned that I'd do several boxes this week, and the reason is simply because I love doing boxes and bags.  I found that I hadn't done many lately and I just wanted to do a few!

I think this little box is really cute.  It's a best girlfriend thank you box!  And it's the perfect size for a very pretty and fragrant bar of soap.  Of course, as it's too hot for me to make soap right now, I'm going to just shop around and see what I can find that'll be perfect in this little box.  I have two friends that have been particularly nice to me and both of them are  "girly-girls" so this should be a perfect little "thank you" girt for them!  I may even do a matching card!

If you like my box, of course I've provided a cut.file for you below.  The cut.file is done is both the George and the Plantin carts (on the one cut.file).  And, if you use it, I'd sure like to see what you've done with it!!!  (Even you Gypsy enthusiasts!)

The cut.file is also available on my sidebar in the "Cut.Files" drop-down box.

I'll be seeing you!

AWARDEE SHOWCASE #12

Hello, friends and family!!!

The fairies and I are hosting this last Awardee Showcase with sadness.  As I explained in an earlier post, circumstances are best that we discontinue the showcases at this time.

Thank you for all the wonderful comments you've left supporting what was a very difficult decision for us.  We will truly miss showcasing your projects, but we will not miss your wonderful creations.

I would like to personally thank my Fairy-sisters:  Flowerdisco, Lori, and Sheryl.  Without their help and support, our showcases wouldn't have progressed to this point.  Their dedication was overwhelming and I so very much appreciate them.  We were a true team!!!

To all of you, I  thank you for -- and appreciate -- your support and encouragement over these last several months.  It has meant so much to have you as contributors, commenters, and supporting viewers.

Because this is our Awardee Showcase #12 finale, we felt it only fitting to present the Showcase Award to all our wonderful contributors.  All their projects are fabulous!!!  These weekly decisions have always been difficult for us because all the projects are always much more than we expected, so it was an easy decision to not decide because all our contributors have been winners from start to finish!  And, it feels so right to award all our Showcase #12 contributors!!!

Congratulations, ladies!  You really deserve your awards and we hope your blogs wear them well!!!  And, thank you again for taking the time to come play with us!

Lastly, I won't let you forget about me!  But, do drop in and visit me when you can.

SHOWCASE FINALE ANNOUNCEMENT

Good evening, my friends.  I'm back again with a last minute regrettable announcement.

After much thought and consideration, with heavy hearts, the Team Fairies and I will be terminating the showcases immediately after the Awardee Showcase on Monday, June 28.  As the summer has brought on additional activities and responsibilities for most of us, we feel this is not a good time to get the participation we'd like in the showcases, and we do not feel it would be fair to ourselves or you to continue at this time with the possibility of running into summer scheduling conflicts.  Therefore, although we're sincerely sorry, we've decided it best that this be our showcase finale.  It is possible, we may attempt to resume the showcases again in the fall when the pace slows down, but we can't commit to anything at this time.

We have very much enjoyed all the wonderful projects that have been contributed, and thank you so very much for coming over to play with us and providing inspiration and encouragement to others. We are grateful you cared to share your projects being showcased here , and we've had so much fun and  hope you got some enjoyment out of our showcases too.

The Fairies and I will miss the showcases, but I know we won't miss the opportunity to continue being inspired by your creativity.  We've all made some new friends and have been introduced to some new and exciting blogs.  I hope we all continue to explore!!!  It's a good thing!

On a personal note, of course, I will continue to be interested in what you're doing because I truly love and admire all your talent, so don't be surprised if I just may pop in and ask you to "feature" a project you've done here on my blog every now and then.  As always I'll be around, visiting, commenting, giving love!  And, of course, I'll be crafting, posting and hoping to share as much as I can with you as I've always tried to do.

I do hope you'll all still come by to support our awardees on Monday.  And thank you all -- contributors and the veiwing audience for being here for all us Fairies!!!

I'll be seeing you!

REVISED CUT.FILE FOR 5" BOX

Happy Saturday, everyone!!!  I have to imagine everyone is busy crafting because there hasn't been much activity today -- LOL!!!  Yes, I've been checking!  I even made sure I hadn't missed and/or was missing a scrapbooking show on HSN -- LOL!  That usually takes you guys away from blogging!

I wanted to drop in to let you know that for my card and gift box that I'd posted on June 23 I have revised the cut.file to include both the George and Plantin carts for the 5" box.  I've also added the file to my list of cut.files on my sidebar for your ease of use.  It is listed as:  5" Gift Box on the list.

For those of you interested in boxes, over the next week, I will be posting several box projects and including cut.files for you.  I will try to include George and Plantin cut.files for these projects also.  For those of you who have these carts, they can also be transferred to your Gypsy's for use.

I hope you're all having fun, and I'll be back with the Showcase #12 Awardees and the new theme sample project and registration (Mr. Linky) for Showcase #13.  I do hope you'll all be available on Monday, June 28, to lend support and congratulations to our Showcase contributors.

Thank you all my friends and family for stopping by.  Hugs to you, and...

I'll be seeing you!

ANOTHER CARD USING MY HANDMADE FLOWERS!

Happy Friday, all!!!  Hope all's well and that you're ready for a wonderful weekend!

Well, I have another card using the flowers I made earlier.  This one was an experiment of sorts.  I don't like it nearly as much as my last card (which I really love and had such fun doing), but I do think this one is  "interesting".   Besides, at least, I'm getting to use all these flowers I made earlier.

On this particular card, I also used the scraps of material leftover from the flower instead of just discarding a beautiful strip of material.  I also used an old button which had lost it's rhinestone from the center; so, I filled the center in with 2 complementary shades of Stickles, let it dry and I loved how that old button turned out.  Of course, I just love Stickles too, can't you tell?  And, by accident, while looking through a pile of "stuff" trying to find the button, I ran across the beads at the top of the card which just happened to pick up the colors in the flower!  Now that was really a pleasant coincidence!!!

I told you this was an interesting card, didn't I?  Let me know what you think of it!  I'm really curious!

NOTE:  As an aside, and so I don't forget, I had promised I'd do a cut.file for that 5" box several posts ago using the Plantin.  I did update the cut.file to include the Plantin cut.file.  If you're interested, you can return to the post and download (or re-download ), or wait until I post it on my sidebar to download directly from 4Shared.

Well, I guess that's it for now.  I'm going to check to see if I have new contributors to play with me for Showcase #12!

I'll be seeing you!

ANOTHER CARD/BOX SET!!!

Happy, happy Thursday, friends!!!  I "think" I'm back!!!

Wow, have I had several interesting days!!!  I thought the storms were going to be most frustrating of these days to get through, however, it was having to deal with my lights being off and on consistently.  It appears that Friday's storm did a lot of damage and Com Ed is still repairing cables and wires, removing and cutting tree branches, etc. all over the city.  So, our power had to be cut off, then turned on throughout the last day and a half in my neighborhood.   We did get some stormy weather but nothing like I'd expected until yesterday evening when we got the remnants of a tornado that hit the surrounding Chicago area.  Although my county was included in the warning, we only caught the tail end was pretty nasty in itself, but nothing like the damage to our suburban areas that took quite a hit.  I'm fortunate this time because, again, thousands of people are left without electrical power; but, so far, I'm good.  At least until they have to return to do any possible repair -- then on and off, on and off -- LOL!!!

Anyway, I hope that's the worst of it all!  And, I'm so glad to be back and my "E" is looking awfully good to me right now!!!

I do have something to share today, it's another card set using more of the flowers I'd made.  Here is a close up of the card which reads:  "God Poured Love Into Our Hearts and Sprinkled It With Kisses".

Here is a picture of the card and the matching box:

And I thought I'd do this picture of the card inside the box because I really like how it looks:

I really hope you like my card and matching box!!!

I have no idea what kind of card this will be; I thought it would make a nice wedding or anniversary card.  But the hubby thinks it'll make a great birthday card too!  I think because of all the white, it's more matrimonial.  Anyway, we'll see when an occasion comes up for me to use it.

As a mention, I'm still looking for someone to come and play with me for Showcase #12.  To date, I've only seen one contributor.  I do hope there will be more.  You still have until 8 p.m. central time tomorrow!!!

Okay, now that I'm back, hopefully, for a while I'm off to do some postponed visiting!!!

I'll be seeing you!

GIFT BOX AND CARD SET

Happy Wednesday, all!!!

I'm going to try to make this fast because Com Ed will be cutting off my electrical power in about 10 minutes for additional repairs to the lines in my area.

I have made a 5" gift box and card using the flowers I made and published in a previous post:

I hope you like it.  I've also included a cut.file using the George cart of the 5" box in case anyone would like to have it.

I will also provide a copy of the cut.file in the Plantin cart later; however, I don't think I'll have time to get it before my power is cut off.

I'll be back when I can!!!

JUST DROPPING IN TO SAY "HELLO"

Happy Monday, everyone!  I wanted to drop in and say hello to everyone.  We did get a storm very early this morning but, miraculously, I slept through it!!!  It was a typical storm though, nothing severe.  The worse is expected though; they are still predicting we'll have severe storms later today, tomorrow, and on Wednesday -- how depressing is this?!!!  I'm afraid to start anything because I feel as soon as I get started so will the weather take it's turn!

It's even having an affect on my poor little Buster.  He's usually running around happy and playing, begging to go out, and here he is with his favorite toy (yep!  a whole toy box full of toys and that's his favorite, the raggedy and torn up one with the "guts" hanging out!! ) and I can't get him to move!!!   Just look at my poor little guy:

I tried to take him in the yard but he wants the park!!!  He doesn't understand we can't go because this storm could come at any time and people were injured who were caught in last's week storm because it was unexpected.

I did hear those still without electrical power since last Friday will have power restored before the end of the day but, possibly, could lose it again with the next round of storms (of course, I'll more than likely be in that group again).  I love summer but I hate going through this EVERY year!  Actually we were very fortunate this time, last year like most of the others with last week's storm, we didn't have power for almost 4 days.  We had to eat out because we lost all the food in our refrigerator and freezer after it thawed -- no way could I cook all the food we had and eat it in a day!!!  And we had no hot water because all our utilities are electric start.  Poor hubby had to live with cold showers --LOL!  Heee-heeee!  This time we only had to endure it for just almost a day.  I just hope I'm not speaking too soon with more severe weather on the way!!!  LOL!

I have gotten a chance to get some craftng today but have used most of the day trying to catch up on some visiting and blog-hopping before the storms hit (whenever that is).  Chicago weather is just so unpredictable you can't rely on the weathermens predictions-- it just seems to do whatever in it's own time, so you just go on as usual the best you can until it comes and is over with.

Anyway, I should have a couple of projects to post for you by the time this is all over.  I'm trying to do something with all these organza flowers I made; they are compulsivewhen you start doing them!

I do hope you some of you are working on the theme project for Showcase #12.  I would be so disappointed if there weren't ANY projects by Friday.  I must admit, I was concerned if anyone would want to play with me having to do a home decor project as opposed to a card, layout, box, etc.  I don't see many, so I don't know how you feel about doing home decor.  I am hoping though someone will come on over to play with me and take on the challenge.

Oh well, I'm thinkin of you guys and hope all's well!  I'll be back in a few!!!

I'll be seeing you!

A FOREWARNING!!!

Good, happy Sunday morning, all my wonderful friends!!!

I am giving you a forewarning that due to the threat, again, of severe thunderstorms for tonight, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I'll probably be posting the Awardee Showcase #11 later this evening instead of tomorrow morning.  I'm so afraid that with the severity of the last storm, if any of these predicted severe storms are of any equivalence to the last one, the possibility exisits that we may again have a power outage.  (I was pretty fortunate because there are still thousands of people here who are still without power.)  Also during severe storms, I become idle due to my religious beliefs; therefore, I wouldn't be active on the internet (or my computer) anyway.  I do not want to take any chances that the showcase possibly could not be postponed until after Wednesday, so I plan to pre-publish the awardees around 7 p.m. central time tonight.  My thinking ahead may/may not be necessary; however, the weather is so unpredictable and because I still have a few more papers to complete typing for my son, I just want to cover as many basis as I can before theses expected storms arrive.

On a good note, I finally got myself registered for the CHA and scheduled the workshops I'll be taking, and I also made my hotel reservation.  The convention center is about an hour's drive from me but with having to take the expressways to get there could take several hours due to the heavy, congested traffic (and right now there's construction everywhere which slows traffic even more), so it'll just be easier for me to stay over instead of trying to drive back and forth.  I'm already excited about it, and having to wait until the end of July is going to be almost excruciating!!!  LOL!!!  I'm so happy it's here in Illinois this year!!!

Are any of you planning on attending?  It would be so wonderful to meet you!!!  Please let me know if you are.

Well, I better go!  I have quite a bit to try to accomplish before anythings starts to happen tonight!  I did try to visit as many of you as I could last night and will try to get to some of today, if possible.  But, if I miss anyone, I will get to you -- I promise.  Now if you don't hear from me in the next few days, you have an idea as to why.  I don't want you to think I'm ignoring  or have forgotten you because that would not happen.  Of course, I hope it won't be as bad as predicted but as the city is still recuperating from the last storm, I don't see where another storm -- or more -- can help what is already a devastating situation for some.  One of my neighbors has a tree threatening to fall into the living room of her home and the city has no idea when they can get to her  because downed and/or broken trees and electricial wires lying on the ground are a threat throughout the city right now.  So, I don't want to take any chances or make any assumptions.  So..., until...

I'll be seeing you!

SHOWCASE #12 INTRO AND SAMPLE THEME PROJECT!

Good evening, my friends!  I am so sorry I've been absent and haven't had a chance to post and/or visit with you the last few days.  However, I have been having some really busy days -- mostly helping my son with some term papers.  Also, if you were following the news yesterday, you heard that we had a severe thunder storm sweep through Illinois that left quite a bit of damage and some power outages.  Well, of course, I was one of those who was left without power most of yesterday evening and into the morning; and, if you remember another post, you'll know I'm quiet during these types of storms.  This has really left me behind in getting what needs to be done DONE!  Being  I'm the theme designer for Showcase #12, I prayed  that my electricity would be restored in time to get my son's term papers typed and my theme sample project completed and posted for the showcase.  So far my prayer is being answered but I'm so backed up I'm really racing to beat the clock!!!  I guess my streak of rotten luck isn't yet over but I refuse to let it defeat me -- the devil is busy and so am I!!!  LOL!!!  Anyway, if I'm hitting and/or missing here, please forgive me and understand.  My son's papers are due on Monday so, hopefully, I'll have some free time after I get the Awardee Showcase posted and open registrstion for Showcase 12.

Registration for Showcase #12 will be open on Monday, June 21 through 8 p.m. central time of Friday, June 25 after the Awardee Showcase.

I want to thank Team Fairy Sheryl for being the theme fairy designer for Showcase #11 and for her amazing candle project she made for the theme sample.  Sheryl herself is amazing, and if you haven't visited her yet, please do!  Just click on her name above for a direct link to her blog.

Your theme sample project for Showcase #12 is to complete a home decor project of your choosing.  You can use any color, medium, design you prefer.  The home decor sample project I have made for you can be used as a wall hanger or magnet as I've attached both:

I used a paper crimper for the crimped paper panels, used Scor-Pal to score the lines for the fans and then just hand-folded (mountain and valley folds);  I used a cricut pen to write the wording using the Jasmine cart and colored it in with a watercolor pencil; the organza flower is one of those I made earlier and posted using the candle burning method -- do you remember them?  Finally got the chance to use one!   Lastly, I added 3 short strands of pearls to the ase of the flower, a pearl to each fan to complement the pearl in the center of the flower and the strands of pearls at the base of the flower.  I embellished by edging the project with peach colored stickles, and used it to also highlight certain areas on the project.  Sorry if it isn't as nice as I'd liked to have done but I really did have to do it in a hurry!

Of course this project will be available above the Posts at the top of my blogfor review during the week, if you want to refer to it.

Now, please don't forget to join me and the fairies for the Awardee Showcase on Monday.  I will be around to visit each of you as soon as I can -- I promise!!!

I'll be seeing you!

LAST FEW HOURS TO ENTER SHOWCASE!!!

Hi, everyone!!!  Sorry, if I've not been around much the last few days.  I've been really busy-- between having doctors appointments and scheduled exams, helping the hubby to get some things organized and helping my son type up some term papers; and, not to mention, the unexpected guests that you don't see during the winter but which spring/summer seems to draw out their shells, my days have been more than full!  And, I'm not done!!!  I still have to prepare for my brother and neice who will be here on vacation in 3 more weeks.  I don't know what made me think this was going to be an easy month or two; I guess I just wasn't thinking far enough ahead.  It's not going to be easy trying to get much crafting done, but if I don't get to get some projects done soon, I'm not going to be easy to live with -- LOL!  Crafting and blogging are my destressors!!!  If I don't get around to them sooner than later, it's the one sure thing that can make me irritable.  I don't mind doing anything else, I just need my craft and blogging fix in between!!!  LOL!  Can anyone else relate to this?  Or, is it just me?!!!

Anyway, I did want to say hello, and to also remind you that you have about six (6) hours left to get your candle projects entered into the showcase.  I love what we have so far!!!  So do the fairies!!!

I'll be back!!!

A BIRTHDAY CARD TO SHARE!

Here I am again!!!  Now, I have a card to share with you.

I got up this morning, raring to go!!!  I really needed to do something crafty to alleviate all the tensions and stresses of my hectic day yesterday, and to get my day off on the right track; so, I made this card.  Initially I didn't know where I was going with it, because the decoupaged flowers came from a kit but I didn't like the cardstock background that came with it -- it just looked too commercial.  So, I decided that to give it more of that handmade look I'd use the layers of flowers but do my own background.

Before assembling the decoupage layers, I covered each layer with Glossy Accents to give it a glassy and glossy look -- that may be hard to see on the picture, but it really does look so pretty (maybe you can click and enlarge it to see).  I embossed the top layer of the card and the "Thank you" label with the Cuttle Bug Polka Dots Embossing template and rubbed them with an inkpad to give them some depth.  I added complementary color gems to the ribbon bows and used a Fiskars punch around the edges of the card; next, I added a couple of the punched scraps to accent the decoupaged flower.  I typed and printed out the "Happy Birthday".

I'm not saying I love it but, overall, I am more pleased with it than I would have been if I used the pieces from the card kit, and now I have another card ready for a fitting occassion!  Hope you like it!

Well, that's all for now but I'll be back!!!  So, as I always say...

I'll be seeing you!

Another Sunshine Award for Me!

Good happy Wednesday!!!!  At least I hope it is!  I really don't care for the term "hump' day; it sounds so strenuous and I'd hate to think of your day that way.

I got another Sunshine Award, this time from my friend at Just2Ducky.  You must visit her blog when you can.  Not only is she a great crafter, she really is so funny and entertaining.

Thank you so much, my friend!

Now I must pass it on to five others; the first three (3) being the Team Fairies who work so hard to bring you the theme samples each week for the Showcases.  Not only are they wonderful crafters, they are such honest and faithful team players, and sincere friends:

Sheryl

The next person I'm passing this award on to is:

Sandy

Sandy is such a sweetheart and leaves so much love on my blog everyday that just fills my heart.  She is also extraordinary in that she's opened and shares her life and family with us 365 days a year through her journal blog.  I try not to miss a day of her antics in getting her "daily pictures".  I enjoy her and her family's adventures and try not to miss a day of sharing her life with her through her words and pictures.
