AN EMBROIDERED WEDDING GIFT

Happy Sunday, everyone!  I hope you're all enjoying a happy crafting weekend!

It was a pleasure and such fun visiting with so many of you this weekend, and admiring your wonderful projects.  I needed the inspiration as I seem to be in a somewhat crafting "slump" or as a lot of you refer to it as "mojo".  Whatever you can call it, I don't seem to have it at the moment, so it's been a good time for me to catch up on some neglected chores.

For my project post today, I have an embroidery project.  I was asked by a friend to embroider a set of towels for a wedding gift.  I actually enjoyed getting back to doing some embroidery.  I hadn't been near my machine for a while now, and it was something I didn't have to think about how to do -- the color had already been selected and I'd been provided the names -- that's all I needed!  So this was easy.  Not my usual to share with you but I hope you like what I did.

I started with some towels I purchased from a General Dollar Store and I found the ribbon among some I already have here at home to add as a trim, so this set cost about $10:

Here's how it turned out:

The found the ribbon several years ago at Costco's and it has such a soft and luxious look and feel to it, and I think it added class to the towels (if you click on the picture you might be able to get a better glimpse of the texture o the ribbon).  Now that I I'm looking at it, I think I'm going to add some fringe at the bottom for a finishing touch!  I think my friend will like them and I hope you will too.

I've still got some unfinished projects and I'm still pondering on how to complete them -- hope my crafting mind returns soon!  In the meantime, I love you all...

FIT FOR A QUEEN?

Hello, all!  And a happy Tuesday to you!

Several days ago, I promised to make my friend Queen Pam a sampler embroidery project for pointing out to me that I didn't share an embroidery project I did for my son.  As I mentioned, I hadn't thought to post the "project" because I considered it just that!  More a chore than a creative, fun project.

This was initially to be a "token" embroidery project with Queen Pam's name; however, I started thinking, what's a queen without her crown and jewels -- right?  So, I searched the internet and found a simple crown to embroider, added some rhinestones, and here's the project:

I've made these little bags before with other materials and they're great for tossing loose change or small toiletry/cosmetic item into; however, this is the first time I've embroidered (or sewn) vinyl and I'm not sure I like it too much for embroidery.  I found the vinyl in the scrap bin at Walmarts for 60 cents and it was only about 1/4 yard (if that much).  After I saw it is when I thought to do a little sampler bag for Pam -- worth a try at that cost, and if it didn't turn out... nothing lost.  I pretty much put the bag together in about 45 minutes because I wasn't sure how it would turn out or if I'd like working with vinyl.  I do think I'll be practicing working more with vinyl, and taking a little more time, to do these little bags and some bigger ones too!  (Hate you can't iron it!)

Embroidered Petwear

WELL, I'M STILL UP!!!
It's 12:00 midnight and I'm still up tickering around with this blog-- eventually I'm going to figure it all out!  Being that I'm here though I felt I might as well add another picture, so if you don't know Buster then now is the time to meet him.  Buster is my "almost" 2-year old shitzu and he's modeling a coat I made for him during the O'Bama inauguration (as you can see by the picture).  I've embroidered Buster's name on the coat and added a pocket for his little treats -- isn't he just too cute?

Buster will be back soon showing off some of his other designer fashions that mommy has made for him!
