CANDLE MAGIC!

Foreward to my followers:  I have, hopefully, caught-up with all your blogs; however, because the information is not available on your member log-ins , there are followers I have not been able to locate both recently and over time (altho I've searched for you).  If I have never, at any time, contacted you it is because I do not know how to reach you.  Therefore, if you have never received a post comment and/or email from me, please let me know whether you have a blog or website, or an email address available where I can contact you.  I love for all my followers to know, personally, I appreciate them being there for me!

Happy, happy Friday, friends!!!  Another weekend, hopefully filled with creative fun projects to come!!!

I have a project today that I'm calling candle magic, however, it's really just another recycled candle/card project.  I looked at an old candle and thought how I hadn't did a candle project in a while, so I did one and it was fun!  LOL!

I found these really pretty napkins, grabbed a glass square and the candle:

After I finished decoupaging the candle and card, I added the embellishments and here's what I got:

I get these glass squares from a friend of my DH who owns a glass company.  He often takes his scraps and cuts them into squares for me to use as coasters, but you can find plain glass candle holders usually in your dollar store.  The embellies are just some buttons, lots of brush-on glitter, and a large oval bead.

I think I can come up with someone who might like to receive this as a gift!

That's it for now, but I'll be back!!!  Which, of course, means...

I'll be seeing you!

Oh Audrey - that is so beautiful! It's so funny that you used the glass square - just yesterday my mind was racing about a new project I want to try and I need glass squares. I was thinking where in the world could I get some - DUH - never thought about the dollar store! Thanks! Again - love, love, love the candle!

Audrey that is beautiful. Did you decopage the napkin to the glass too? It looks so crisp and squeeky clean, I thought that would leave trace marks. Looks great! TFS

You are such a treasure! Love that you like to know all your followers. I try so hard to keep up with mine as much as I can also.
Love the fall colors on this project what a great way to decorate. Does the candle burn well with the mod podge and napkin? I always wonder about that. I burn many candles weekly, and would love to decorate some more.
Have a great weekend sweetie!

Hi Sheila, I did decoupage the napkin to the glass and I've never had a problem with trace marks on the glass; although I have occassionally had that problem when applying decoupage mediums directly to paper projects.

Dawn, I do burn my candles. Maybe it's because I buy really cheap candles and they tend to burn inward. I'm not sure though how this one will burn because I actually applied glitter to the top of it and I've never did this before. But I'll let you know when I light one!

what about the card...what did you use to adhere the napkin to it. all the bling looks awesome with the fall colors. So rich and deep.
TFS!

Hi, Agnes. I actually used decoupage medium to adhere the napkin to the card; first, you must remove any additional layers of napkin (they usually have 2 or 3) and lay the napkin down gently starting at the top of the card. This is kind of messy and causes wrinkles though and that's why I used the brush-on glitter to hide some of the wrinkles.

An easier way to do it is to iron the paper onto the card by inserting wax paper between the card and the napkin. Unfortunately, I'm out of waxed paper! Uuugh!!!

I love napkin art! Using Mr. Peabody's way back machine... no, wait, I'm just old enough to remember it clearly.. Aleene's used to have a glue called something like Napplique... and you could use it to decoupage napkins to tee-shirts, and it always looked so pretty.

I picked up some pretty napkins at HL on clearance, but no Napplique can I find. I'll have to try wax paper. I buy a roll whenever I see it, unless I have about 4 rolls in stock. I have such fond memories of the stuff. I remmember my lunch sandwiches being wrapped in wax paper when I was a kid, plus I loved ironing leaves in it. TFS!
